A few more days of vacation for Ligue 1 players after the winter break.
Seeing the glass half full, this is what we can say when we learn that the French Football Federation (FFF) postpones the 8th round and the 32nd finals of the Coupe de France.
And this "because of the suspension of amateur competitions announced on October 29", confinement requires.
The press release fell on Tuesday.
The 8th round was scheduled for Sunday 13 December and was to mark the entry into the running of the twenty resident clubs of Ligue 2. The 32nd round was to be played on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 January, with the entry into the running of the twenty clubs from Ligue 1. It was also to be the first meeting of the year for representatives of the elite, on vacation for a handful of days at the end of the 17th day of the French championship, December 23.
The 18th episode of the L1 soap opera is scheduled for January 6.
Puzzle in sight to reshuffle matches
Obviously, if we look at the glass half empty, these are new dates to be found in an already overloaded calendar… “The FFF is working with the regional leagues for the reprogramming in January of the 6th round and the 7th round (which 'were able to compete on the dates planned) and with the Professional Football League (LFP) for the rescheduling of rounds involving the participation of clubs from Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 ”, specifies the“ 3F ”.
The final of the Coupe de France 2020-21 is scheduled for April 24, in Saint-Denis.
