Fast goal, then let the opponent do it - Tottenham wins against Manchester City

If José Mourinho had been able to paint a course of the game, it would have looked like this: An early goal, the spaces narrow and the counterattack lurking. So it happened and so it was enough. There is a lot of work ahead of Pep Guardiola.

Tottenham Hotspur are leaders in the Premier League for at least one night.

The Spurs won against Manchester City 2-0 (1-0).

The goals for Tottenham were scored by Son Heung-min (5th minute) and Giovani Lo Celso seconds after being substituted on (65th).

Manchester remains in tenth place for the time being after the defeat.

Leicester City can overtake Tottenham again with a win at Liverpool tomorrow.

In the first game after Pep Guardiola's contract extension until 2023, the coach of Manchester City was shown after a few minutes what is currently one of the master’s construction sites in 2018 and 2019: the defense.

The new regular duo in central defense, Aymeric Laporte and Rúben, was played with a lifter.

Tanguy Ndombelé put his teammate Son in the limelight, goalkeeper Ederson tunnelled (5th).

For the guests, the game in London could hardly have started worse.

Tottenham was able to focus on counterattack as a result.

Manchester had a lot of possession but had few chances.

The Spurs, on the other hand, were always dangerous after counterattacks.

Two hits, twice denied

Four minutes after falling behind, Kevin De Bruyne had a good chance to equalize, but shot his offside team-mate Gabriel Jesus (9th).

Just four minutes later, the ball was again in the guests' goal.

Harry Kane was just offside when he hit.

City too had to live with a non-given goal.

Gabriel Jesus had his hand on the ball when he presented for Laporte. According to the pictures, referee Michael Dean decided that handball was a criminal offense.

In the second half the picture was initially the same: The guests had a lot of possession, but only played a few opportunities against low and good Spurs.

Tottenham is different.

Son initially missed the preliminary decision because he had the ball too far - he had already played around Ederson (64th).

Less than a minute later, substitute Lo Celso hit the ball after a counterattack.

One place behind Tottenham is Chelsea FC.

An own goal by Federico Fernández (10th) and a goal by Tammy Abraham (65th) after submission by Werner were enough for the Blues to win.

Werner was denied his own hit.

The German international was close to it twice, but only hit the post after half an hour and was offside a quarter of an hour before the end.

His national team colleague Antonio Rüdiger was used for the first time this season.

Kai Havertz, who was infected with the corona virus, was not yet available again.
