Jean-Philippe Mateta shone with a hat trick

Mainz 05 scored its first win of the season in the Bundesliga.
In the basement duel at SC Freiburg, Jan-Moritz Lichte's team won 3-1 (3-0).
Jean-Philippe Mateta scored a hat trick for Mainz (2nd minute, 34th, 40th).
Nils Petersen scored the connection (63.).
Thus Mainz moves up from the bottom of the table to 15th place and is two points closer to the Breisgauer.
After seven games without a win, Mainz only needed two minutes to take the lead.
After winning an air duel in midfield, Mateta got the ball and left the one-on-one SC keeper Florian Müller no chance (2nd).
As a result, Freiburg remained vulnerable in defense.
Müller fended off a shot from Robin Quaison from 18 meters forward, but was powerless against the undisturbed Mateta from about seven meters (34th).
Again and again Mainz switched quickly after winning the ball and challenged the Freiburg defense.
After a pass from Jean-Paul Boëtius, Mateta made his hat trick perfect (40th).
In the fourth game against the sports club, it was already the eighth goal.
The French have not scored as often against any other Bundesliga club.
Only shortly before half-time did Christian Streich's Freiburg team approach a first good chance through Jonathan Schmid, but ultimately couldn't get past Mainz keeper Robin Zentner (45th).
After the break, Freiburg was able to shorten: Because Zentner let Ronald Sallai's shot ricochet off to the side, he landed at Petersen, who hit the connection (63rd).
The Freiburg team turned it up again at this point - in the 72nd minute, however, Lucas Höler put the ball just next to the post.
