Forst / Lechbruck

- After the Bavarian Ice Sports Association (BEV) canceled the season in the Bavarian League with the currently valid mode on November 10, the season in the two Bavarian state leagues has now been declared over.

After a video conference with the clubs involved, the BEV came to the conclusion that, as part of the current staging mode, another game operation “without distorting the competition is no longer sensible and cannot be represented”, as ice hockey chairman Frank Butz wrote to the clubs formulated.

Therefore, the round in which individual teams played a maximum of five games is canceled.

In consultation with the BEV and the league speakers, a new mode is to be determined, which - should the game be allowed to resume - can be implemented within the scope of the possibilities.

“However, this also depends on when a return to training and competition is possible again,” added Butz, who, like the clubs, wants to await the further development of the pandemic and the decisions of the politicians.

Based on the Oberliga Süd and the Bayernliga, promotion and relegation will also be suspended in the regional leagues.

"Due to the development of the pandemic in the past few weeks, with the prohibition of training and games for amateur sport throughout November and the lack of planning prospects for the coming weeks, there was no alternative to this decision," says Manfred Sitter.

The chairman of the ERC Lechbruck supports the association's approach.

Those responsible at SC Forst are of the same opinion.

“For two years there has been a guided tour at the BEV that also talks to the clubs.

That wasn't always the case in the past, ”reports chairman Lorenz Barfüßer of what he saw as a very constructive and harmonious online meeting.

"We will now wait for the next prime ministerial conference, then see what facts will be presented to us and then make further decisions," explains Sitter.

"The clubs want to play, if necessary without a spectator", clarifies Barfüßer.

Which mode can or should continue is still being clarified.

"If there is a game, it has to be safe, because how should a player explain to his employer that he has to be quarantined because of ice hockey," Barfüßer points out.

There are critical words from Lechbruck because of the distinction between professional and amateur sport.

“I don't understand that.

As a regional league club, we also have an economic operation with a budget in the six-figure range.

In contrast to professional sport, we do not receive any financial compensation, nor are our athletes allowed to practice their sport, ”complains the ERC chairman, who is also worried about the youngsters.

“We have over 110 active young players, and it hits them particularly hard.” Sitter cannot understand why schools and kindergartens are open while ice hockey training is not allowed.

“That is why I say very clearly that these undifferentiated decisions against the practice of amateur sport will result in more harm than good.

Health is our top priority, which is why we do not see sport as part of the problem, but as part of the solution in fighting the pandemic. "
