The ball stood exactly 35 yards (32 yards) from the goal and each kicker was given five seconds to subdue the goalkeeper in front of him.
The goalkeepers were given complete freedom to move wherever they wanted in order to stop the player in front of them, although they were of course forbidden to stop balls by hand off the field.
If the goalkeeper had committed an offense or touched a hand off the field, they would have moved to a regular penalty.
Teams that won on penalties in the regular season games, got a point while the loser was left with a round zero.
The misses were much more numerous than in the traditional penalty kicks, but some of the goals scored were very beautiful.
