The day he actually wanted to sprint to the Olympic gold medal, Noah Lyles is sitting in his home not far from Orlando, Florida, typing a Twitter message into his smartphone.
“I recently decided to start taking an antidepressant.
One of the best decisions I've made lately. ”The entire text is 240 characters.
Lyles hits "Tweet" and the news is in the world.
It's August 2nd, 2020, a Sunday.
What Lyles is not aware of at the moment: Originally, the 100 meter final, the biggest show at the biggest sporting event in the world, was scheduled for this evening in the Tokyo Olympic Stadium;
Lyles, 23, was a favorite for gold.
It should be his games, with victories over 100 and 200 meters, plus a triumph with the US sprint relay.
That was his plan.
But then Corona came, the Olympics were postponed.
Lyles lost sight of his goal, and the gloomy thoughts that had long slumbered within him began to grow.
