VIDEO - The 2020-21 Champions League is in full swing, and Le Figaro takes you back to the most beautiful goals of the prestigious cup with big ears. Today, the incredible chisel returned from Mexes against Anderlecht.

An incredible gesture!

This November 21, 2012, Philippe Mexès scored one - if not the - most beautiful goal of his professional career;

an achievement that marked the last decade of the Champions League.

Opposed to Anderlecht during the group stage of the big-eared cup, AC Milan entered their meeting well by opening the scoring just after the return from the break through Stephan El Shaarawy.

The Italians are however still under the threat of the Belgians.

It is at this moment that the French defender emerges.

An incredible sequence

On an indirect free kick hit by Riccardo Montolivo, the former player of AJ Auxerre sees the ball arrive in his direction.

Distinguished, he positions himself so that he can control it from the chest;

what he manages to achieve.

With his back to the goal and placed at the level of the penalty area, the Milanese then attempts an inverted scissor which surprises everyone.

His attempt is perfect.

Silvio Proto, the Anderlecht goalkeeper, is beaten.

He can only watch the ball get lodged in his small right net.

With this sublime achievement, Philippe Mexès contributed to the victory (1-3) of AC Milan on the lawn of RSC Anderlecht.
