In the partial lockdown, the training in the junior performance center (NLZ) of SpVgg Unterhaching is also different than usual.

We spoke to NLZ head coach Marc Unterberger.

Unterhaching – The SpVgg Unterhaching attaches great importance to their youth department.

So the work in the youth training center bears more fruit every year.

Numerous players in the third division squad emerged from the youth performance center (NLZ).

The A-Juniors play in the Bayernliga for promotion to the Bundesliga, the B-Juniors have played a good role in the Bundesliga for years.

But the corona pandemic has also hit the SpVgg Unterhaching youth training center hard.

met.

Florian Fussek spoke in his role as SpVgg press spokesman for our newspaper with Marc Unterberger, the head coach of the NLZ.

How is the day in the NLZ currently like?

Overall, of course, there is less going on on site.

Due to the current situation, only our sponsorship contract players are allowed to train.

They are assigned to the professional group of footballers.

There are currently 35 players who train together on the pitch four times a week and are looked after by seven coaches.

There are also two athletic and technical units each, which are individually tailored to each player.

So it's really not completely quiet here.

How big is the fear that the players will lose their fitness over time?

Since no competition can take place at the moment, which is the main burden of the week, it is of course difficult to depict this one on one in training.

Every player, starting with the U12, has been given a running and athletic plan.

That's at least four units a week.

But we expect the older players in particular to work on themselves independently and keep themselves fit.

Unfortunately, it's not completely new for the guys, even in the first lockdown phase, a lot of personal responsibility was required.

Usually that worked out great.

That's why we're not really worried now.

What is important now for the trainers?

It is of course as painful for the coach as it is for the players that they cannot stand together on the pitch.

But it's still important to keep in regular contact with the guys.

It's not just about sport, but also about interpersonal contact.

A coach can be a very important caregiver for a young player.

That is why contact should be maintained during this time, which is not easy for everyone.

What does corona training look like then?

We videotaped various technical tasks with the players of the first team that the boys can train.

There are also regular virtual meetings, for example with yoga and athletic training.

We make sure that our players don't get bored (laughs).

What is the interim conclusion of the Hachingen youth teams?

Overall positive.

Currently we have some players in professional training with Arie van Lent.

Most of the results have also been correct so far.

Our U16s and U19s are currently first in their league.

Fortunately, there is no downward outlier.

The U15, which got off to a bumpy start, also scored into midfield, much to our delight.

Let's take a look at the U17 you coached.

With five points from five games, she is in eleventh place.

Satisfied?

It's OK.

But we had games in which we could have played a lot better.

On the other hand, we got points in games that we could have lost.

From that point of view, the yield fits, but there is definitely still room for improvement.
