Boris Becker will resign from the German Tennis Association (DTB) as the so-called "Head of Men's Tennis" from 2021.
This was announced by the DTB and the former world-class player.
In the future Michael Kohlmann will assume sole responsibility for the men's area of the DTB.
»Working for the DTB has given me great pleasure over the past three and a half years.
Unfortunately, I currently don't have the time to continue to carry out this extensive task, ”Becker said in a statement that was distributed by the DTB.
Becker is currently fighting in a court in London against the allegation of having withheld assets in his bankruptcy proceedings.
He faces up to seven years in prison.
Becker denies the allegations and pleads "not guilty" on 28 counts.
Regret at the DTB - but also understanding
"Of course we regret this decision, but we fully understand it," said DTB sports director Klaus Eberhard.
Association President Ulrich Klaus added: "Boris Becker has also done an outstanding job in this role for the German Tennis Federation." It is hoped that he will be able to be integrated into the association again in the future.
Becker had filled the post on a voluntary basis.
He started in 2017, he led the Davis Cup team together with Kohlmann, his tasks were, according to DTB: viewing courses, contact with trainers as well as visits to federal bases and tournaments.
First and foremost, Becker should act as an advisor for the German tennis men and young people.
"I will remain on friendly terms with the DTB and can imagine, if my time allows, I will take on an even bigger task at the DTB, if the opportunity arises," said Becker.
