Corona is throwing up the schedule of biathletes in the district.

Trainer Bernhard Kröll cares about the youth work.

Be humble.

Satisfy yourself with what you have.

Virtues that not everyone has in themselves.

Bernhard Kröll does.

Admittedly, he doesn't have much choice.

The biathlon trainer at the Kaltenbrunn base experiences a year with his athletes in which things simply cannot be planned.

"We are currently in the fortunate position that we are allowed to train outdoors as individual athletes," says Kröll, mentioning what is probably the most important aspect for biathletes at the moment.

In three weeks time it will be serious for David Zobel (SC Partenkirchen), Juliane Frühwirth (SV Motor Tambach-Dietharz), Hanna Kebinger (SC Partenkirchen) and Tim Grotian (SC Mittenwald).

The qualifying competitions for the IBU Cups will take place in Ruhpolding from December 17th to 20th.

Unlike originally planned, these will not start until January.

The first IBU Cups should actually take place in November and December.

The corona pandemic, of course, thwarted the bill.

But it should start on January 14th.

The venue for the premiere race is the Großer Arber.

We plan week after week

Bernhard Kröll

Until then, the motto is: train as best you can.

Long trips are difficult to manage.

The courses in Italy and Scandinavia recently fell victim to the virus.

After all, a 14-day course has been taking place since this Monday.

This week in Obertilliach (Austria), next week in Ruhpolding.

Zobel and Frühwirth started the trip to Tyrol with negative corona tests.

Grotian will join in Ruhpolding.

Kebinger, who is currently in training after recovering from illness, is following the same plan.

It is difficult to say this year when the athletes have to be in perfect shape.

Kröll also attaches limited importance to fixed dates: “It wears you down.

You plan, you organize and four days later you throw it all over again. ”The athletes have given up setting the calendar in advance.

“We plan week after week,” says Kröll.

He emphasizes the importance of the competitions in Ruhpolding, which decide who will start in the IBU Cup.

“We need the qualification, we can't do that well.” Even if it is still in the stars whether the total of six races in the IBU Cup can go on as planned: the adult athletes can at least train.

The youth sector suffers from the guidelines

The situation with the juniors is more dramatic.

“The youth sector is unlikely to suffer, they are not allowed to train.” Kröll fears far-reaching consequences for the young people with regard to the training and competition ban.

“We have problems in this area outside of Corona.

Sport is also important for the psyche of children, as a balance for school. ”And continues:“ We are grown-ups and so incredibly happy to be able to train.

How are the children supposed to be? ”The current lockdown is doubly bitter for the winter sports offspring, as it falls exactly at the start of the season.

Kröll is certain that the clubs' hygiene concepts work.

It is important to find a solution for the youth.

"I am convinced that they would adhere to the distance regulations."
