The strong beer festival that had already been advertised had to be canceled at short notice and there was a complete standstill for three months. ”Because all sporting activities were suspended, all income related to gaming was also lost.
"The only bright spot at the first lockdown was that all the seats were brought into shape and many other maintenance measures were taken on the sports grounds," said Schlossnikl.
From the middle of September, the game was resumed under strict conditions and hygiene concepts, but this was associated with considerable costs.
And now the new lockdown, the end of which is not yet in sight.
Schlossnikl sees further disadvantages: "Much more serious than a lack of game income is the fact that, especially in the junior segment, there is no continuity in training and club life." the youngsters remain loyal to the club.
The social area is no less affected, as President Franz Schlossnikl emphasizes: “Our BSG also lives from its community and conviviality with all its festivals and celebrations.
These events have always been an integral part - and have been for decades. "
Now this rhythm has been broken.
The strong beer festival 2021 with the planned honor of the founding members has already been canceled.
This also applies to the AH closing ceremony, the “Advent in the Castle” event, the BSG indoor tournaments and the Christmas party in the Bürgersaal.
The annual general meeting with the department reports and new elections will also be postponed to spring 2021.
In short: there is almost no club life at the moment.
Schlossnikl regrets: "The Christmas party with the honor of the members and the end of the year were not only always a highlight of the association year for me".
The loss of important sources of income could also damage the economic situation.
Schlossnikl: “We have the running costs under control, but above all we cannot make the special repayments for our debts from the club house construction in the planned amount.
The long-term consequences cannot yet be foreseen here either.
More than ever, the association is dependent on additional income and donations. "
Nonetheless, the BSG President is looking to the future with optimism: “The association has shown common sense and commitment to the community through thousands of hours of voluntary work in the construction of the sports home and also wants to master the current situation.
