Three goals in three games: Giuseppe Parlato from EV Moosburg hit the ground running in the national ice hockey league before the corona-related forced break.

Moosburg

- "I am thrilled with him." EVM board member Bernhard Loidl almost raves when he is asked about storm talent Giuseppe Parlato (19).

“In the league games, all of our junior staff in the first team performed well.

But Giuseppe rightly made it into the front row and has now scored his first goals in the national league.

Great, really outstanding.

For that we make sure that our own people from the youngsters can play ice hockey in Moosburg. "

This is the case with Giuseppe Parlato, because it started with the youngest students at the EVM.

Before that, his grandfather, a former ice hockey player, had taught him to skate from the age of five.

Parlato also played football and tennis before moving to ERC Ingolstadt at the age of twelve.

The contact came through the then EVM junior trainer Petr Kankovsky.

After a trial training session at the DEL Club, the ERC accepted the young Moosburger into the junior squad.

Homework on the drive to training

For more than three years, this decision fundamentally changed the student's daily routine.

“We had training four times a week and two games in the school league at the weekend.

We were always on the road for five to six hours per training session.

It was just competitive sport, ”recalls Giuseppe.

Sometimes he did his homework in the car.

Always there: his grandfather Dietmar Zahn, who chauffeured the grandson to training and games.

After graduating from secondary school in Moosburg, the 15-year-old decided to start training as a vehicle mechatronics technician.

It was then clear that this could no longer be reconciled with the training effort in Ingolstadt, so the striker returned to the EVM in 2017.

There Giuseppe played a few games in the youth district league, but fell into a hole in sporting terms.

The motivation was gone.

Training and private life were in the foreground for him, so in spring 2018 he quit his ice skates.

The apprentice today describes the fact that he returned to the ice almost two years later as a coincidence: An ice hockey friend from earlier called and asked if he would like to stop by the EVM-U20 again.

Giuseppe did that without any commitment and played a few more games for the junior team.

When asked about assignments in the senior sector for the 2020/21 season, he spontaneously decided to take a look - and that was also good for him.

“Everything is a little faster in the first team.

There are people there from whom you can learn a lot.

That was a challenge for me, ”says the youngster, describing his drive.

He and his colleagues from the junior division were very well received in the team.

The cohesion and the mood are good.

Trainer Bernie Englbrecht expects the boys to pay attention and give full throttle to keep improving, says the 19-year-old.

This is why the coach often approaches his youngsters to make the tactical instructions understandable.

Parlato did not find his performance in the preparation games so good.

Nevertheless, Englbrecht ordered him in the national league in the front row together with the veterans Miloslav Horava and Peter Abstreiter.

A measure that has been crowned with success in the previous three league games.

“It's easier for a young player when all you have to do is hold the club in and every pass comes perfectly on you.

If I've done something wrong, they both motivate me and give me tips, ”says the 19-year-old striker.

Praise from the coach: "He's a good runner, has wit and a good shot."

Englbrecht thinks his number 25 is quite talented: “He's a good runner, has wit and a good shot.

If he would use it more often in the league, he could score even more goals.

That can be something if he stays on the ground and continues to train so diligently. ”Parlato's national league record can definitely be seen for a newcomer: In the three matches he scored three goals and prepared one.

The 19-year-old doesn't really have any role models.

If so, then it would be his grandpa Dietmar, who is also his biggest fan.

“He's there at every game.

He also gives me tips on what I can do better or what to watch out for. ”He would find it sad if ice hockey shouldn't go on this season because of Corona.

Many of his current teammates started with him as children at EVM.

“That's why we get on well and we're happy that we still play ice hockey together from small to adulthood.

That's just nice. "
