Hippisme: Marc Sassier, a collective success

2020-11-27T22:05:10.911Z

The Mayenne trainer of trotters is having the best season of his career thanks, in particular, to his quality team and owners

On November 20, Marc Sassier had the pleasure of signing the 200th success of his coaching career at the Graignes racecourse (Manche).

A symbolic milestone for the 33-year-old professional who was born among horses, but whose fate was not yet decided in advance.

“I always had the idea of being a trainer, but the condition my parents set for me to do this job was to study before.

So I went to business school in Paris and have a bac + 4. ”An unusual background in the pelotons.

But the passion for horses, and trotters in particular, has never left him.

“During my vacation and my internship, I went to work in the United States and Sweden to deepen my knowledge.

And on weekends, I trotted the horses to my mother (Marie-Annick), who was a trainer.

"

"All the links in the chain must be competent to succeed"

Established on his own since 2013, Marc Sassier is gaining momentum and the current season is a full illustration of this.

His team already has 53 victories, a record for the Mayenne structure after the first complicated months.

“I currently have forty horses under my responsibility, ten of which can run this winter.

They were sick at the beginning of the year, then there was confinement.

We were a hit from the month of May, with elements that had hardly been seen.

This success can also be explained by the good organization of the team.

“I am surrounded by an excellent team with Xavier Forget, Gaëlle Godard, Antoine Schnabel, Meddy Chevalier, Laurie Regnault and Victor Nail-Rocher, an apprentice who will have to run more and more.

I also have owners who have been loyal to me since my installation.

They give me carte blanche and we work with full confidence.

We are all a chain and all links need to be competent to be successful.

The results have exploded since I arrived three years ago at my new training site in Arquenay (Mayenne).

I now wish to increase as a horse.

"

Two serious chances this Friday

Quality elements, Marc Sassier already has some in his boxes, like

General Sly

, who will be at the start of the 1st race of the Vincennes meeting this Friday.

“He does all his shopping,” says the coach.

He's better going in front, but he's just had a tough fight or two.

This is why we are going to change our tactics, by being less offensive.

I opted for this race rather than a 2100m so that it came to finish on the others.

"

Earlier in the day, his best chance was in Mauquenchy (Seine-Maritime) with Enjeu Dairpet (7th): “He must return twenty-five meters.

The last time at Vincennes, he set off at a gallop, but he unblocked his ears before the start.

If he does not make the mistake, he has his say especially since he has already shone on this course.

I fear

Eishiro Dem's

and

Elixir de Crennes

.

"

To lead his two residents, Marc Sassier, as often, called on “pilots”, Eric Raffin in Vincennes and François Lagadeuc in Normandy.

A choice assumed by the holder of 99 successes as a driver.

“I like to start my foals a little complicated and who are not well put on.

But, as soon as they are settled, I prefer to leave them to professionals who run several times every day.

At every racetrack, there are people who are better than others.

A method that is undeniably bearing fruit.
