AC Milan extend their lead in Serie A

2020-11-29T19:14:21.177Z

Even without Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the Milanese assert their leading position in the championship by having Fiorentina this Sunday.

AC Milan, under the eyes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, injured and in the stands, increased its lead at the top of Serie A thanks to its easy success (2-0) over Fiorentina, lacking in confidence, Sunday during the 9th day.

The Rossoneri (23 pts), unbeaten in the league since the resumption of Serie A in June, are now five points ahead of Inter Milan and Sassuolo and six over AS Roma and Juventus.

Roma, however, have the opportunity to take second place alone on the occasion of their evening trip to Naples, in a match that the Neapolitans will play with a special shirt, recalling the colors of Argentina, to pay tribute again to Diego Maradona.

After the defeat of the dolphin Sassuolo against Inter Milan (0-3) on Saturday, AC Milan did not miss the opportunity to increase its lead.

Despite the absence of Zlatan Ibrahimovic (muscle injury) and his young average age, the Rossoneri have mastered their subject against a struggling Viola (one point taken and no goal scored in the last four matches).

Alessio Romagnoli, forgotten at the far post on a corner, opened the scoring (17th) before Franck Kessié doubled the penalty (27th).

The Ivorian midfielder, inducted as an official shooter by Ibrahimovic himself after his recent failures, however missed another penalty ten minutes later, after a foul on the French left side Theo Hernandez.

Ribery incisive but unhappy

"Penalties are like that, either you mark them or you miss them ... But the next one I will shoot him again", Kessie smiled after the meeting, especially remembering a "very important" victory.

Hakan Calhanoglu could have increased the score: he came close to one of the goals of the weekend but his powerful pivot strike, after a back-to-goal control, came close to the top and his new attempt in the second half found the post.

La Fiorentina never seemed able to challenge this success, even if Franck Ribéry was incisive, as always on the lawn of San Siro.

His nice pass for Dusan Vlahovic ended with a shot on the post by Gianluigi Donnarumma (21st) and "FR7" then missed his face to face against the Italian goalkeeper (55th).

Cesare Prandelli, recalled on November 9 on the bench, suffered his second defeat in two league matches and the Viola remained in the depths of the standings (16th) before welcoming Genoa (19th) on the next day.

In the other matches of the day, Lazio Rome fell at home (1-3) against Udinese, transcended by its many Argentinian players - Pereyra and De Paul passers, Pussetto and Forestieri scorers - decided not to miss their tribute in Maradona.

Tomorrow's Champions League difficult for Lazio, like the results on Saturday of Atalanta Bergamo, beaten by Hellas Verona (0-2), and Juventus, hung by Benevento (1-1).

Simone Inzaghi's team probably already had the mind entirely turned towards its capital trip to Dortmund on Tuesday in C1.
