"Play like a girl" is written on the back of Sarah Fuller's football helmet.

The medical student actually plays soccer at Vanderbilt University.

On Saturday against the Missouri Tigers she is now in the squad of the football team of her university for the first time.

What makes your calling so special?

The Vanderbilt Commodores play in the Southeastern Conference, one of the "Power Five".

This is the name of the top five college football leagues in the United States.

A woman has never been used there.

In a tweet on Friday, Fuller showed up with a football and soccer ball.

"Let's make history," she wrote.

In her final year of study, she changes her sport again.

It is not impossible: As a kicker, she performs a shooting movement similar to that of a goal kick as a goalkeeper.

Kickers must shoot the football through the poles at each end of a football field.

As a rule, you do not come into direct contact with your opponents.

Last weekend, Fuller was the goalkeeper between the posts of her soccer team.

With three saves she secured the first Commodores title since 1994 against the favorites from Arkansas. She received the reward for her strong performance across all sports, initially in the form of a missed call from her coach.

Corona cases in the football team

Due to the corona regulations in college football, the Commodores football team is experiencing failures and some players are in quarantine.

That's why coach Derek Mason asked his football colleague Darren Ambrose for help.

Ambrose's assistant, Ken Masuhr, rang Fuller's doorbell.

"Have you ever kicked a football?" He asked, according to the Commodores website.

"Yes," said Fuller.

"Can you stay here this weekend and be a kicker on the football team?" An hour later, Fuller was kicking footballs instead of footballs on the training field.

"It's different (...), but it feels good," she said.

Fuller wouldn't become the first woman in college football if she were to play.

As the first woman ever, Liz Heaston scored two extra points for Willamette University in 1997 in the lower-class NAIA.
