FC Barcelona will soon receive a fine of 3,000 euros from the Royal Spanish Football Federation to sanction the tribute celebrated Sunday by Lionel Messi to Diego Maradona, who died last Thursday at the age of 60.
After scoring a goal in his team's large victory against Osasuna (4-0) in the league, the “Pulga” performed a moving celebration by removing his jersey and revealing, underneath, a tunic stamped with the n ° 10 from the Newell's Old Boys club.
A nod to the passage of "Pibe de Oro" within the Argentine club between 1993 and 1995 (where he played only five matches).
The jersey had belonged to Maradona
Lionel Messi, who pointed both hands skyward in tribute to his compatriot, had obtained this jersey, worn by Diego Maradona, in 2018. A collector, Sergio Fernández, had given it to the Barcelona striker just before the Cup of the world in Russia.
At the end of the meeting, Messi returned to his celebration by posting a photo of himself facing Osasuna alongside that of his idol, his hands pointed towards the sky.

The reference to Newell's Old Boys is not innocent.
In 2013, Messi said he attended the Argentine legend's first match with the South American club.
It was 1993 and the captain of the current Albiceleste was only six years old at the time.
But, as beautiful as it is, this staging to salute the memory of Maradona did not please the leaders of the Royal Spanish Football Federation who considered that the promotion of a jersey (and a sponsor) violated the rules governing La Liga.
