For the first time, a Champions League match will be refereed by a woman. It is indeed Stéphanie Frappart, the 36-year-old Frenchwoman

One more step for Stéphanie Frappart.

The 36-year-old Val-d'Oisienne referee has been appointed to referee on Wednesday the match between Italians Juventus Turin and Ukrainians Dynamo Kiev in the Champions League.

This will be the first time that a woman has led Europe's biggest club competition.

Used to great firsts, the referee from Herblay will enter the closed circle of the very best referees in the world.

After starting in National in 2011, in Ligue 2 in 2014 and then in Ligue 1 in 2019, Frappart led his first European match at the European Supercup in August 2019 between the English of Liverpool and Chelsea.

Previously, she had refereed the final of the Women's World Cup in France United States - Netherlands.

Logically, she was named the best referee in the world in 2019 by the Historical Federation of Football Statistics (FHSF) for all of her work.

This year 2020, Stéphanie Frappart continued to grow.

She became the first woman to referee an international match between two men's teams during the League of Nations (Malta - Latvia, September 6).

She then continued on October 22 in the Europa League during the confrontation between the English Leicester and the Ukrainians Zorya Louhansk.

The only thing missing was the Champions League.

It will be done this Wednesday.
