In the legal dispute about more equality, the US soccer world champions around Megan Rapinoe have reached an agreement with the US Soccer Association.

The decision announced on Tuesday (local time) was about aligning the working conditions for the successful women's national team with those of the men.

The agreement, filed with a federal court in California, includes flights, hotels, training grounds, and staff equipment.

After this agreement, the way is free for the four-time world champions' players to appeal against their claims to equal pay in relation to a wage discrimination lawsuit that was rejected in May.

The new President of US Soccer, Cindy Cone, described the deal, which will come into force immediately, as an "important and welcome moment for US soccer and the national players."

This had sued its own association in spring 2019 for discrimination.

The players primarily complained that their male colleagues were paid far better.

In addition, the men would have better travel, game and training conditions.

The lawsuit was dismissed by federal court in California in May.

However, the court allowed the aspect of discriminatory working conditions, and an agreement was reached there.

As announced, the players want to appeal on the issue of equal pay.

US women are far more successful than men, but are paid significantly less.

The association justifies this, among other things, with the different high premiums that are paid out by the world association Fifa.

Should the legal dispute over equal pay end successfully for Rapinoe and her teammates, additional payments in the millions could be due.
