RB Leipzig won the penultimate game in Group H and can continue to hope to reach the Champions League round of 16.
In the reigning Turkish champions Basaksehir, the second place in the Bundesliga achieved a 4: 3 (2: 1) victory.
Yussuf Poulsen scored for RB (26th minute), Nordi Mukiele also (43rd), before Irfan Can scored the next goal for the club from Istanbul (45th + 3).
Dani Olmo scored the third Leipzig goal (66th), Can the second and third for his team (72nd, 86th).
In stoppage time, Alexander Sörloth scored a Leipzig victory after all.
The Leipzig team played a key role in the early development of a fast-paced game.
Mukiele had the first good chance with a header from a corner (4th), shortly afterwards Poulsen brought the ball onto goal after a free-kick from Emil Forsberg, but failed because of the quick-reacting goalkeeper Mert Günok (12th).
The subsequent opening goal was as deserved as it was curious: A central shot by RB captain Marcel Sabitzer ricocheted off Basaksehir's central defender Martin Skrtel, against Poulsen - and from there into the goal.
Demba Ba had the first opportunity to equalize after finishing on the goal-area line.
But RB goalkeeper Péter Gulácsi got his hands together just above his head (37th).
Leipzig continued to determine the game, defended a little deeper with the lead and quickly switched after winning the ball.
With success.
After an attack from the left, Forsberg fell once across the penalty area, where Mukiele ran into the far left corner (43.).
Immediately before going into the dressing room, Can hit a direct shot after a flat corner (45th + 3).
RB had left the midfielder completely alone at the height of the penalty area.
After resuming, Basaksehir pressed early, which made the game more open.
And Leipzig was lucky: Captain Visca came to the right in front of the goal from an acute angle to the end, which went to the outside netting (55th).
Good chances on both sides
Leipzig responded with speed, but also with finesse.
Forsberg could have made a possible decision when he came two meters in front of goal after Mukiele's cross, but shot Günok (61.).
Olmo made it better, who hit the left corner after a remarkable dribble (66th).
The home team did not give up, however, especially Can, whom Angelino did not really disturb when he dribbled into the box from the right.
Gulacsi had no chance at Can's finish in the left corner (72nd).
Sabitzer's falsified graduation landed on the post shortly afterwards, but the Turks never came back.
In the 85th minute, Can shocked Leipzig with his third goal of the game with a free kick.
Sörloth scored in stoppage time (90 + 2).
The three points give the team of coach Julian Nagelsmann a better starting position in Group H.
Leipzig have nine points from five games, Manchester United (9 points) and Paris Saint-Germain (6 points) duel in the evening, which is why they have one game less.
