Borussia Dortmund will have to do without Erling Haaland in the Champions League game on Wednesday evening against Lazio Rome (9 p.m. / Sky).
As BVB announced shortly before the kick-off, the most dangerous BVB attacker has torn a muscle fiber.
The Norwegian will be absent from his team for several weeks.
“Erling won't play until the beginning of January.
He may have played too much, ”said BVB coach Lucien Favre shortly before the kick-off at Sky.
Haaland played around 1120 minutes for BVB in the current season - only defensive players Manuel Akanji, Mats Hummels and Thomas Meunier, who has also been injured in the meantime, have more playing time.
Haaland has scored six goals in the first four games of the current Champions League season, more than any other player.
Haaland scored 17 of 37 BVB goals this season in all competitions.
"At first we thought it wouldn't be that bad," said Favre of Haaland's training injury: "But he can't play now."
