Lionel Messi was fined € 600 following his tribute to Diego Maradona after the goal he scored in the win over Osasuna.

Messi, who made it 0-4, took off a shirt, revealed Maradona's shirt in Newell's Old Boys uniform and celebrated with the move Maradona made when he played in the team uniform from Rosario in the 1993-94 season.

The Football Association's disciplinary tribunal fined Messi for violating Article 91 of the Disciplinary Code, while Barcelona was sentenced to 350 euros.

Although these are meager sums for Messi and for the club itself, in the Catalan media it is clear today that Barça will appeal the penalty.

Newell's Old Boys is the team where Messi started playing football, before moving to Barcelona at a young age.

He remained a fan of the team from his hometown and therefore chose a tribute in memory of Maradona rather with a shirt of the team and not with another shirt, for example of the Argentina team.
