"You can never replace that in your life"

On the day his former girlfriend Brenda Patea spread the news in an interview with the magazine "Gala" that she was expecting a child, Alexander Zverev was sitting on the white leather sofa in his parents' house in Lemsahl-Mellingstedt on the outskirts of Hamburg.

The man, whom everyone only knows by his Russian nickname Sascha, thinks about what family means to him.

“You will have friends that come and go,” he says, “you will have relationships that come and go.

But family is something you can never replace in life.

You have your family once - and that's it. "

At this moment, Zverev has no inkling of the allegations that Olga Sharypova, another former girlfriend, will bring against him a few hours later.

She will claim that he banged her head against the wall, pressed a pillow on her face.

She will later even claim that she once tried to commit suicide in his hotel room out of desperation.

Sascha Zverev will vehemently deny the allegations.
