The Breton Xavier Jan, 50, was elected on Friday as president of the National Cycling League after a general assembly by videoconference.
Jan succeeds Marc Madiot, the boss of the Groupama-FDJ team, in post since 2008, who did not want to run again.
“I am very happy and satisfied to pass the baton to Xavier Jan,” explains Madiot.
We have together an old story that began at the end of the last century when he was my runner when I was sports director at La Française des Jeux.
This year, French cycling has shown real cohesion up to the challenges and difficulties we have been confronted with.
I am convinced that all cycling families will continue on this same dynamic.
