In the city derby, Hertha BSC turned a deficit and won 3: 1 (0: 1) against Union Berlin.

Taiwo Awoniyi gave Union the lead in the Olympic Stadium (20th minute), Peter Pekarik equalized for Hertha (51st).

Substitute Krzysztof Piatek decided the game with a double (74th / 77th).

In the 23rd minute Union was outnumbered, Robert Andrich had kicked Lucas Tousart on the head.

After an initial phase with no highlights, Union used their first own shot on goal to take the lead: Marcus Ingvartsen had put through to Awoniyi.

He didn't hit the ball properly, but still put it past Alexander Schwolow in the far corner (20th).

The excitement of the opening goal did not last long for Urs Fischer's team.

In a duel with Lucas Tousart, Unions Robert Andrich tore his leg far too far up and hit the Frenchman with his foot on the head.

Referee Felix Brych consequently put Andrich off the pitch (23rd).

The game hardly changed due to the Unioner being outnumbered.

Hertha BSC still hardly came to deals, the home team had a particularly difficult time out of the game.

Even Hertha's best chance, a header from Dodi Lukébakio after a corner, ultimately did not pose problems for Union goalkeeper Andreas Luthe (40th).

After the break, Hertha came to equalize.

A single action by Matheus Cunha was decisive for this: The Brazilian created the space for a finish from medium distance, Luthe fended off the ball to one side.

The advanced Pekarik met by stabber (51.).

As a result, Union was barely enough for its own relief attacks.

Goalscorer Awoniyi went off the pitch, with Sebastian Griesbeck an additional protection came to close the center and keep the opponent away from the goal (54th).

However, this only succeeded to a limited extent: after a playback error by Luthe, Hertha quickly played into the top, a deflected shot by substitute Piatek turned the game around (74th).

Shortly afterwards, Piatek scored his second goal by volley and finally decided the game (77th).

The last minute of stoppage time held a final setback for Union: Max Kruse injured himself without any opponent influence and hobbled off the pitch.

A series of eight games ended without defeats for Union.

Hertha took their first home win of the season and is eleventh ahead of the weekend's games, Union is temporarily in sixth place in the table.
