First publication: Eric Pinto, former chairman of Bank Hapoalim, will serve as chairman of the National Sports Council.

Pinto, a sports enthusiast who has supported Israeli sports extensively through Bank Hapoalim, is actually coming to a meatless committee in light of the fact that the recommendations of the Ministry of Sports, which were first published exclusively in Israel Today, have already been set for him by the Ministry of Sports officials. .

Pinto will have to bring the recommendations to approval already at his first meeting.

Pinto was the leading candidate by Minister Trooper and CEO Raz Froelich who did not want to see a woman in the position but a man. Recently, Dafna Lang, who was one of the founders of Athena, the National Sports Council, which has

recently been

disbanded

and nearing the end of its historic path. , But the minister preferred an appointment with a political and economic affiliation and not people who came not only from sports but also those from the business world, given the fact that this is a committee that was emptied of content and its whole purpose is to be a rubber stamp for the Ministry of Sports.

Pinto, holds a Certified Basketball Coach from the Wingate Institute.

In 2007, he was appointed coach of the Israeli wheelchair basketball team in parallel with his work at Bank Hapoalim, which he began in 1980. In 2008, the basketball team, led by Pinto, competed in the Paralympic Games in Beijing, where it finished sixth in the world.

This achievement earned Pinto the title of "Coach of the Decade" in the Paralympic category, as determined by the Ministry of Culture and Sports as part of the celebrations of the 60th anniversary of the State of Israel.

Pinto is also considered close to Yael Arad and her rival for the presidency of the Olympic Committee, philanthropist Sylvan Adams.
