The Professional Football League, which held its board of directors on Thursday, has set a date for the 2020 Champions Trophy which normally opposes the winner of the Championship to that of the Coupe de France.
As PSG won both events, they will face their runner-up in L1, OM.
This match will be played in Lens on January 13, 2021 may be in the presence of the public depending on the evolution of the health situation.
The date of January 13 was chosen because it is one of the only ones available during this period, where the schedule is often very busy despite the uncertainties that still weigh on the holding of the Coupe de France.
The Champions Trophy should have been held in Côte d'Ivoire in the summer of 2020 before being postponed due to a schedule largely disrupted by the pandemic.
Tradition has it that it takes place one or two weeks before the start of L1, initially scheduled for August 7 and then postponed to August 22, 2020.
The reunion of Neymar-Alvaro
PSG are the title holders of this trophy which they have already won nine times, the last time against Rennes in 2019. Marseille, for their part, have won it three times.
This will be the reunion between the two clubs since the sulphurous Clasico of September 13 at the Park where OM had won for the first time since November 2011 (1-0).
This match was notably marked by the altercation between Neymar and Alvaro, the first accusing the second of having made racist remarks against him.
Faced with these accusations by the Brazilian star, the disciplinary commission of the LFP declared on September 20 that it did not have sufficient convincing evidence and decided that the behavior of the players did not give rise to sanction.
