Six days after the death of Paulo Rossi, the legendary Italian footballer who led his team to the 1982 World Cup, his widow Federica Capalti revealed a message he received a year ago from Diego Maradona, who died two weeks before him.
The two played against each other in the 1980s in Italy, when Rossi's last game of his career was in a 0: 3 victory (with Verona) in 1987 over Diego's Napoli who won the championship.
"Diego sent him a wonderful message last year," Federica told Neapolitan Radio Keys in an interview.
"He mentioned the days of the 82nd World Cup and wrote to him: 'You gave football so much, thank you.'"
Federica also stressed that Paulo, who suffered from a serious illness, "cried like a little boy when I told him Diego was dead."

They could not guarantee him then build a great team "His was different, but he was always disappointed that the Neapolitans thought he had rejected an offer from Naples."
On the commemoration of the greatest Italian pioneer of all time, who died at the age of 64, Federica recounted: "When they bring Afro home, we will hold a ceremony in Prato and there they will also name a stadium after him. Perugia will do the same with her youth department. People turn to us from all over Italy to "To name stadiums, training facilities and squares after Paolo. The wave of affection from all over the world is simply surprising. I expected it, but not so much."
