Quincy Acey: "This year at Maccabi Tel Aviv taught me a lot about myself"

In the current situation of Maccabi Tel Aviv, it could certainly have been helped by the defense and toughness of Quincy Acey.

The militant power forward is still without a team, but in the meantime all the Yellows' attempts to bring him back to the team have failed and he remains in the United States.

Last night (Thursday), Issy was interviewed for a podcast in the United States, and told, among other things, about the "surprisingly good" year he spent in Israel.

"I came up with a lot of prejudices about basketball outside of the NBA, but it was a fantastic year for me. I learned a lot about myself this year, and I improved as a player and as a person."

Icy told about his start at Maccabi Tel Aviv, and about the suspicion he initially showed in relation to Danny Abdia.

"When I arrived in Israel I was told he was supposed to be a top 5 pick in the draft, and I thought to myself, 'He has a lot to prove.' But he proved me wrong I was, "Acey said.

"He refuted all the stereotypes I came up with, everything I thought about young players coming from Europe. He's a great kid. He tore his ass in training, he's tough. He's like a little brother to me, we have a great relationship."

Acey added: "Abdia earned the top pick in the draft, and I think he could have been selected even higher. He has both the talent and the character to be an NBA player. He is very talented and has a chance to be something special in the league."
