Leeds came to Old Trafford for the first time after 16 years to renew an old rivalry, but collapsed already in the opening, when Scott McTominy became the first in the history of the Premier League to score a double in the first three minutes.
The Scot, who has not scored twice in a single game during his career, enjoyed Bruno Fernandez's cooking in the second minute and shot to the right from 18 yards out to the net, and immediately afterwards scored on the left from an extension.
The great Fernandez scored himself in the 20th minute and so United made their fastest 0: 3 since August 2006, then scoring a hat-trick in 16 minutes for Fulham.
The celebration at the expense of Leeds' naive defense continued with a goal by stopper Victor Lindloff in the 40th minute after a corner kick, and for the first time in its history in the Premier League the visitors conceded a four in one half.
Liam Cooper shrank after two minutes, but compatriot McTominy added a brace to Daniel James who scored between the goalkeeper’s feet in the 66th minute, and Fernandez completed his own double with a penalty four minutes later.
Stuart Dallas reduced in the 73rd minute, but did not prevent a painful humiliation.
