Just before the regular season opener, Danny Abdia continues to swim like a fish in water in Washington.
Tonight (Saturday through Sunday) the Israeli rookie provided another positive game in a 96-99 win over Detroit, which locked up the Wizards' preseason games.
Abdia started again in the top five, receiving no less than 31 minutes from coach Scott Brooks, and provided a diverse stat line with 9 points (3 of 8 from the field, 2 of 4 from the three, 1 of 2 from the penalty spot), 10 rebounds, 3 steals, two Assists and a positive plus / minus index (6+).
Unlike the first two games, the Wizards went up with an almost full roster including Russell Westbrook who made his debut, but that did not stop her from getting extensive credit - which may well hint at the future to come.
According to estimates in the United States, the quintet that opened tonight, with Abdia as the opening small forward, will be the one to put Scott Brooks at least in the early stages of the regular season.
Despite this, Brooks claims that Abdia's place in the top five is still not guaranteed.

The potential that Washington sees in Abdia can also be learned from the close support he receives from Russell Westbrook and Bradley Bill, the two senior players on the team.

Either way, even outside of Washington there are already some who predict a rosy future for him in the league - and one of them is Detroit coach Dwayne Casey.
Although the Pistons gave up on choosing Abdia and preferred French center Killian Hayes, that did not stop the coach from pouring compliments on Abdia.
"I really, really like Danny. He's an impressive and tough young guy. He's able to score, he's able to drop a ball to the floor. I think he has a bright future in the NBA. He's going to be a special player in this league for many years," Casey added. Before the game.
