SC Freiburg won against Hertha BSC 4-1 (1-0).

The goals for SC were scored by Vincenzo Grifo (7th minute), Ermedin Demirovic (59th), Manuel Gulde (67th) and Nils Petersen (90th + 3, penalty).

For the Berliners, Dodi Lukebakio (52nd) met for a temporary equalization.

After victories against Schalke 04 (2: 0) and Arminia Bielefeld (2: 0), this is the third success for the sports club in nine days.

Hertha lags behind their own claims after the tenacious 0-0 against the penultimate Mainz 05 and now the defeat in the Black Forest Stadium.

The hosts seemed much fresher at the end of this English week.

After just a few minutes, Jonathan Schmid left two Berliners standing on the right flank, and Grifo headed the cross to the left edge of the box into the short corner (7th).

The Berliners, however, had not fired a shot on the hosts' goal even after 30 minutes, but at least prevented a second goal.

Shortly before the break, Grifo should have increased when he ran up to Alexander Schwolow alone.

But Grifo's attempt to lob the Hertha goalkeeper ended up directly in the hands of his former team-mate.

That Hertha is stronger away from home than in their own stadium this season became apparent after the restart.

It was again the seventh minute of the game, only this time it was Lukebakio who used a cross from substitute Javairô Dilrosun to equalize from close range.

As a result, the Berliners were about to turn the game, first Dilrosun failed on the post (58th), shortly afterwards Krzysztof Piatek (58th) narrowly missed - but then it was Demirovic from Freiburg who pulled his team back with a side pull took the lead (59th).

Manuel Gulde increased after a corner with his first goal of the season (67th), Petersen set the end point with a penalty.

With this victory in the last game of the year, Freiburg secured the connection to the top half of the table (10th place, 17 points).

Hertha falls back to 14th place with 13 points from 13 games - with only three points ahead of 16th place. The winter break in the Bundesliga is short, the Bundesliga will continue on January 2nd.

Freiburg has to compete at TSG Hoffenheim on matchday 14 (3:30 p.m.).

On that Saturday, Hertha hosted FC Schalke 04 (6.30 p.m.).
