The Director of the Regional Development Center of the International Athletics Federation in Cairo, Hamdi Abdel-Rahim, affirmed that Syria has proven through its sporting achievements that it is one of the leading countries in graduating champions, especially in athletics.
Abdul Rahim said in a statement to SANA that the achievement of the star Majd El Din Ghazal by winning the bronze medal in the World Championships in London last year is a pride for all Arabs, noting the role of his coach at the time, Imad Al-Sarraj, who trained at the Regional Development Center.
Abdel-Rahim added that the Syrian athletics is in continuous development, especially since the President of the General Sports Federation, Major General Muwaffaq Jumaa, was previously heading the Athletics Federation and was aware of all its details.
The director of the Regional Development Center explained that the two Syrian players, Heba Marwan Al-Omar and Ghufran Muhammad, are training with Zamalek Club and participated with him in the Republic Championship and achieved two gold medals, pointing out that Zamalek club president Mortada Mansour provided all facilities for the two players to obtain a permit to practice the profession of a player in order for them to return to the club after Their participation with the Syrian national team in the Asian and West Asian Championships.
Abdel-Rahim expressed his welcome to establish camps for the Syrian teams with the Egyptian teams and clubs to gain experience, refine and qualify talents, indicating that the Game Federation received a request from the Syrian national team player Musab Aishah to set up a camp in Egypt and it will be approved and a program for these camps will be developed because the atmosphere in Egypt in athletics is global, most The coaches coach the African champions who won medals in the continental and world championships.
He explained that the IAAF strategy for development is focused on activities that contribute to strengthening sport in any country through the culture of athletics, activities and management of the member federation, training, arbitration, competition opportunities, organization, means, devices, and scientific and medical support.
It is noteworthy that the Regional Development Center in Cairo serves Arabic-speaking African and Asian countries.
