The regular Euroleague season is close to the midpoint, and the continent has already started with interim summaries.
"Eurohops" published today (Thursday) the list of disappointing players of the first round, starring "Maccabi Tel Aviv representative Dragon Bender".
"The years have passed, but Dragon Bender looks this year just like the young and immature player he was before he left Maccabi Tel Aviv for the NBA," they noted.
"He never showed he was a legitimate Euroleague player, but fate held him to the same team he left five years earlier. But what has changed in that time? It turns out not much. Bender added muscle mass and a bit of backbone, but that's all. Professionally, he remains the same immature player. Who was 18 ".
The article stated that "In most cases, when a player returns from the NBA to Europe, he is received with excitement and affection. In the case of Maccabi Tel Aviv fans, it is impossible not to understand the antagonism that Bender produces in them. "That's not it yet. Bender may not be the main cause of the Yellows' weak season opener, but when he's on the pitch, most of the time they look bad."
For dessert, the writer also added a derogatory score to Ante Žižić, the Yellows' second Croatian, who is also still having a hard time making a mark.
"Zizic is the most disappointing player in Maccabi Tel Aviv after Bender. He is far from meeting expectations and justifying the big contract he received. He too, like Bender, came from the NBA, but is not exciting."

* Also at Maccabi Tel Aviv: Amara Studmeier reveals that he has been debating for a long time whether to accept the Yellows' offer to play another season, or to join Steve Nash's coaching staff at the Brooklyn Nets.
"I never liked that title, 'Coach,'" Studmeier told the New York Times.
"This title did not excite me, and to be honest it does not excite me yet. I am still very young and feel I am capable of continuing to play."
Studmeier's official role is to assist player development, but he is given broader powers and attends board meetings, among other things.
"He has full access to everything he wants. We push him to be as involved as he can be," said Nash, who remembers Studmeier Chesed from the days when they starred together in Phoenix.
Either way, Studmeier longs for his time in Israel.
"An amazing time. In Israel, I became a more mature and complete person. It was an extraordinary experience."
