Ligue 2: Chambly, a two-speed first straight

2020-12-24T13:37:45.588Z

After its draw in Nancy on Tuesday night, the club is no longer in a relegation position at the truce. He has raised his head since the beginning of the month

It is therefore in 16th place, and therefore outside the relegation zone, that FC Chambly reached the winter break.

An immense satisfaction for the Oise club, as it would have been improbable to imagine such a situation two months ago.

Like their good draw obtained on Tuesday night on the Nancy field (3-3), Bruno Luzi's players have indeed changed for several weeks.

They ended the year 2020 with only one defeat in the last eight meetings, after having conceded… six in the first nine.

It all started very badly during this second exercise in Ligue 2. From the opening day, the heavy defeat against Paris FC (0-3), marked by a big mistake by captain Thibault Jaques, usually faultless, already sounds like a red flag.

Eight matches followed during which the Camblysiens won only a short victory against Châteauroux (2-1).

The slaps received against Clermont (0-3) then Auxerre (4-0), in particular, are blowing a wind of concern on the level of this team.

At the end of the disillusionment in the Yonne, it logically slips to last place in the standings.

During this lean period, the leaders maintain, despite everything, a resolutely optimistic speech.

The president, Fulvio Luzi, tirelessly reminds us that the group carried out a physical preparation intended to be effective over time rather than from the start.

He also notices that his team has faced early opponents who settle at the top of the table, such as PFC, Niort, Grenoble or Sochaux.

Bruno Luzi, he regrets the absence of some of his executives, and predicts better days.

"For other clubs, it would have less impact, but we have no margin," says the technician.

And then there is this draw in Troyes on November 7 (2-2), a week after another very boring setback against Dunkirk (0-1), which then appears as a surprise in view of the alarming context.

This result in the Aube will signal the awakening of the Camblysiens.

On December 1, they won a crucial success in front of Rodez, a direct contender for maintenance (1-0).

Two and a half weeks later, they crush Guingamp (3-0) at the cost of their best performance since the start of the exercise, and leave the red zone.

Obviously, FC Chambly is still far from being out of the woods.

But, if it started from afar, the team from the native of France has shown obvious progress during these first four months of competition, as well as an ability to face tough times.

A solidarity which could prove to be capital in the struggle for maintenance.

“It's a group that does not give up, that has a response and also quality, appreciates Bruno Luzi.

They cycled through it, and they did.

I remained optimistic, and I am even more so today.

We became boring again to play (sic).

There is not much difference, but it is better to be in our place than in others ... "

The click: Troyes-Chambly (2-2)

On November 7, the club of Oise, red lantern, moves to the second in the championship while it remains on four consecutive losses.

And, at the Aube stadium, he found himself late on the scoreboard after less than two minutes of play… Led by the score twice, reduced to ten after the expulsion of Simon Pontdemé shortly before the time of game, the Camblysiens will however succeed in snatching the draw thanks to the incoming Lassana Doucouré.

Top: Bradley Danger

The defector from Avranches (Nat.) Is the only rookie in the summer transfer window to have won in Bruno Luzi's starting lineup, with 15 tenures in 17 days.

He was also one of the few to survive during the catastrophic entry into this championship.

Versatile, he was used as a central defender, right side and then defensive midfielder.

Fast and very generous, he appreciates long vertical runs and is able to break lines.

Undeniably a good pick for the resident of L 2.

The flop: Simon Pontdemé

An indisputable holder and author of remarkable performances since his arrival in 2015, the goalkeeper lost his place in the Chambly goal in this first part of the season.

During the seven meetings he played, he was not guilty of big blunders but struggled to be decisive.

He was especially expelled twice, against Châteauroux and Troyes, each time for having mown the attacker who presented himself in front of him.

His replacement Xavier Pinoteau, carried by quality services, ended up stealing his place.

The sentence: "Without TV rights, we file for bankruptcy in January".

Fulvio Luzi, October 11, 2020.

During an interview with our newspaper, the president of FC Chambly expressed his deep concern about the doubts related to the payment of television rights.

The new Spanish broadcaster of Ligue 1 and 2, Mediapro, has just announced its wish to revise downwards the contract binding it to the Professional Football League (LFP).

This Tuesday, the justice validated the withdrawal of Mediapro.

The number: 27, the number of goals conceded

Bruno Luzi's team is approaching this winter break with the unenviable status of worst defense in Ligue 2. A shame for this club traditionally renowned for its defensive culture, and which had made its waterproofness its main weapon to climb the football ladder. French 4 to 4. However, the Camblysiens still evolved in this area: they conceded 18 goals in the first 9 meetings, for only 9 in the next 8.
