Danny Abdia's official debut in the NBA left a taste of more.
The Israeli rookie finished with 7 points, 4 rebounds and the best plus / minus index in the ranks of Washington in 28 minutes on the floor, when his Wizards suffered a 113: 107 loss tonight (Wednesday to Thursday) to Philadelphia in their season opener in the NBA.
Although Abdia threw only twice from the field (and in both cases scored threes) and admittedly rarely participated in the Wizards' offensive moves, he showed a pinch of the diverse abilities that made him one of the standout names in the draft: interesting passing ability, defensive toughness, and equal contribution on both sides.
"He was fantastic," Scott Brooks summed up Abdia's debut.
"No matter what he said, there are some butterflies in his stomach. I think he played well. More chances on offense? It will come. We will teach him and he us. He performs winning basketball operations and that is what I saw from him in pre-season. He cares about the win."

Even before the game, Brooks praised Abdia, who in the eyes of many considered his place in the top five considered a surprise.
"It's not surprising to me. Since joining he's showing us he deserves it. He's playing with a lot of maturity, and has earned his place in the top five," he said.
After the game, even Russell Westbrook, who finished his own debut in a Washington uniform, praised Abdia.
"He was aggressive in some of the moves, made the right decisions with the ball. I am happy with him, he is going to be a very good player in this league," he said.
Abdia himself said: "First NBA game, regardless of disappointment from a loss, it was exciting, a dream come true. I worked so hard to get to that moment, and it was special. I threw when I was free, it's the first game and everyone is excited in this moment. I do not want to force "Nothing. This is only the first game, and it is clear that later in the season I will improve and take more shots."
Abdia claims that "I was not tense at all. I was excited, and that is positive. All of Israel was behind me tonight, and it is fun to play when there is an entire country behind you. I hope I will make them proud this season."
