Nearly four years have passed since David Blatt was unexpectedly fired from the Cleveland Cavaliers.

A lot has changed since then: Blatt was forced to retire from coaching under unfortunate circumstances, LeBron managed to give Cleveland the historic championship he fantasized about, and last season added a fourth ring to his resume, this time in the Lakers uniform.

But despite the time that has passed, in the United States there are those who still draw lessons from that period.

James Posey, a former player and who served as Blatt's assistant during his time in Cleveland, is one of them.

In a column for the Basketball News website, he talked about the memories of those days, and what can be learned from them.

"When LeBron James joined Cleveland in 2014, it was my first year on the coaching staff. On the lines was David Blatt, a Euroleague champion with an impressive resume in Europe who first came to the NBA. We all had to change phase quickly because suddenly everything was different "The expectations, the media coverage, the pressure. Blatt did a good job, but we did not win the championship in his first season.

" In his second season, he had a huge pressure on Cleveland to go all the way.

He could not take the team to the NBA Finals, he had to beat him.

He was fired in January, Tyrone Lou replaced him, but it was all on LeBron's shoulders.

Coaching LeBron is cruel.

It's a circus.

Wherever he does not play, whatever staff there is around him, he just has to win.

Wherever he is, the media is after him.

Reporters and journalists want to cover his groups at all costs.

It creates huge expectations. "

Posey, who continued to serve as Cleveland's assistant coach until last year, claims that "Tay Lou did a great job as head coach. He was a champion as a player, and as a coach he managed to keep everyone on track. He guided us on the right path. He avoided distractions from players who had never won a championship. The work was mostly mental, and he managed to give a lot of confidence to Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love.

"Luckily, LeBron is willing to take it all on himself.

He took all the attention the group had on him, and accepted it with understanding.

He and Tay Lou remained calm all the time, which is what the team needed.

LeBron, despite being the mega-star, made everyone feel comfortable.

This is what helped him win the championship in the end.

To win the championship it is not enough to be the best player - you have to know how to keep the team in the right mentality. "
