The outline of the vaccine against the corona virus, and its timing, will be based on the professional program of the Olympic roster athletes in coordination with the Achievement Sports Unit and the Sports Associations.
The medical committee warns that the effect of the corona virus on an athlete infected with it can be very significant, including a high incidence of myocarditis and with it disabling for 3-6 months.
"Infection with the virus can cause a long period of difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle pain, sleep disorders, difficulty concentrating, and even endanger the athlete's career. The current vaccine in Israel is very effective in preventing disease and we recommend all Olympic athletes to be vaccinated," concluded Prof. Dubnov-Raz and Prof. Nemet.
