Bayer Leverkusen suffered a 1: 2 (1: 1) defeat at Eintracht Frankfurt.

The new year started with a dream goal for the runner-up in the table: national player Nadiem Amiri tunneled Kevin Trapp with the hoe worth seeing (10th minute).

As a result, Leverkusen had more of the game, but hardly had any chances.

On the other hand, Amin Younes met for the first time since his return to the Bundesliga in front of Lukas Hradecky to equalize (22nd).

In the second half, Edmond Tapsoba underwent an own goal: The central defender grabbed a cross from Daichi Kamada over the line (54th).

Free from ten meters away from the goal, the Japanese later awarded the preliminary decision (73rd), an unsuccessful defensive action by Martin Hinteregger landed at the Frankfurt cross (82nd).

Thanks to the three points, Frankfurt can keep up with the European Cup ranks, Leverkusen remain safely on a Champions League place despite the defeat.

The reunion between Max Kruse and his ex-colleagues in Bremen was canceled, a muscle torn put Union Berlin's star striker out of action.

Without Kruse, Urs Fischer's team remembered the virtues of the previous season: strong counterattacks and efficiency were enough for the Berliners to win a 2-0 (2-0) away win at Werder Bremen.

Sheraldo Becker met for the early lead, who successfully completed a counter attack from 16 meters away after a pass from strike partner Taiwo Awoniyi (12th).

Werder lacked ideas, but made more defensive failures: After a bad pass from Bremen's Marco Friedl, Awoniyi spiked the ball into the goal from close range to make it 2-0 (29th).

An alleged follow-up goal by Romano Schmid did not count due to an offside position (44th).

Due to the success, Union climbs temporarily to fourth place in the table, which would entitle them to participate in the Champions League.

On Sunday (3:30 p.m., live ticker: SPIEGEL.de, TV: Sky) Borussia Dortmund or VfL Wolfsburg can again overtake the Berliners in a direct duel.

The successful streak in Freiburg continues: Christian Streich's team prevailed 3-1 (3-0) at TSG Hoffenheim.

Right from the start, the guests from Freiburg were better in the game and created several chances to score.

The best of these was used by Baptiste Santamaria as a guide (7th).

The people of Sinsheim had problems preventing the guests from quickly counterattacks.

That was also due to the fact that Sebastian Rudy (9th) and Kevin Akpoguma (17th) had to be replaced early with injuries.

Shortly before the break, the Breisgauer made everything perfect: First Freiburg's best scorer Vincenzo Grifo converted a hand penalty to 2-0 (34th), then Kasim Adams pushed the ball backwards into his own goal (42nd).

After the break, Ihlas Bebou scored one more goal (58th), but the upswing came too late for a Hoffenheim comeback.

Overall, Freiburg have not lost in six league games and climb to seventh place.

Mönchengladbach had to wait four games in a row for a threesome - Borussia under Marco Rose has never been without a win for that long.

The turning point was achieved in Bielefeld with a 1-0 (0-0) win.

The Champions League round of 16 developed numerous chances against the promoted team, but initially failed because of their own conclusion or the strong parrying Stefan Ortega.

After the break, Gladbach only took the well-deserved lead from Breel Embolo (58th).

After the form gap in December, Borussia is currently in seventh place in the table.

FC Köln remain without a win at home and lose 1-0 (0-0) against FC Augsburg.

Augsburg were already cheering in the first half, but Florian Niederlechner was offside with his header (8th).

Subsequently, the game of both teams lost determination, Cologne and Augsburg no longer succeeded in overcoming the opposing defensive rows.

The best chance of the first half had Cologne's Sebastiaan Bornauw (38th) with a header from close range, but Rafał Gikiewicz was able to clear.

Only shortly before the end, the Augsburg Iago provided the redemption and the 1-0 final score (77th).

Cologne remains in acute danger of relegation, with eleven points, Markus Gisdol's team is only one point ahead of Bielefeld, which occupies the relegation place.
