At the age of 33, after leaving England and refraining from returning to the Premier League, Tomer Hemed began this morning (Saturday) the new chapter in his career - away from Israel.
The veteran striker opened the season with his new team Wellington Phoenix, who surrendered 2-1 to Sydney FC in the opening round of the Australian League.
Hemed, who did not play for a long time and only recently joined training with his new team, started the game on the bench and was pulled out of it in the 59th minute, hoping to bring about the desired equality.
In the 94th minute it almost happened, when a kick by Ulysses Dabila hit him and went inside, however a VAR check disqualified the goal due to a dissent.
Hemed will be comforted by the fact that he made a small history as the first Israeli to record minutes in the Australian league.
If last season is also taken into account, then Wellington is already on a streak of six games without a win.
She's looking for one next Saturday, when she's staying with MacArthur's.
