Washington continues its trend of improvement, while Danny Abdia is still looking for himself on offense.
The Israeli rookie recorded a quiet game tonight (Sunday to Monday) with 3 points (1 of 4 from the field) in 16 minutes against Brooklyn, in what became a surprising victory for the Wizards, 122: 123.
Abdia may have signed on for some nice defensive moves including blocking Kyrie Irving on his way to the ring, but was not particularly involved in the offensive moves and was sidelined for most of the second half.
After the game, Washington coach Scott Brooks sent him a message.
"Danny is a young player. He just celebrated his 20th birthday today, and he has to be patient," the coach said.
"A lot of times young players want everything in the here and now, but he earned his place in the top five, he played well and managed to keep his place in the top five until now."
Abdia rarely touches the ball on offense, and local media in Washington have already called on Brooks to involve him in most moves.
But Brooks claims it's still early.
"For me, I want him to give us good minutes and play strong. That's his role. There are players who want to know exactly 'what my role is,' 'what am I supposed to do on the pitch,' but I don't think our guys are dealing with that. If they "Yes, they deal with it, they hear this mantra from me - play strong and good in your minutes, and you may get more minutes. You can not guarantee it to anyone, but I do expect every player to be ready at any given moment."

The winner of the victory was Thomas Bryant, who scored 21 points, dropped 14 rebounds and was signed to what turned out to be the winning basket 15 seconds to go.
Bryant, who develops from year to year, claims that the improvement in his ability stems from better communication with who he calls Washington's "senior players" - including Abdia.
"I try to talk to each of our senior players - Brad, Russ, Roy, Danny - everyone who plays with me for a lot of minutes, and understand from them how they see things and how they think they could be more available. They draw a lot of fire, so many times it's Gives me a chance to stand out, "Bryant said.
Abdia is appreciated by his teammates, but the American media also sees positive signs, even on his less than good evening.
NBC complimented the Israeli rookie's defense, claiming that she is the one who continues to give him minutes and keeps his place in the top five.
"The Wizards had good moments on defense. Danny Abdia and Jerome Robinson in particular, gave the Scott Brooks a strong defense. Abdia kept Kyrie Irving well in a few moves and even blocked the Hunts' superstar in one move," they noted.
