In the Serie A title race, champions Juventus celebrated an important victory.

At leaders AC Milan, the Turin team achieved a 3-1 (1-1) win.

The goals were scored by Federico Chiesa (18th / 62nd minute) and Weston McKennie (76th) for Juventus, Davide Calabria had meanwhile equalized (41st).

The gap to the Rossoneri is still seven points, with Juventus having a game to catch up on.

AC Milan had to do without some key players: Without Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who has to continue pausing with a calf injury, a ball-safe target player was missing in the top.

Without the red-banned Sandro Tonali and especially the injured Ismaël Bennacer, the two most creative defensive midfielders were missing.

Stefano Pioli's team preferred to leave the ball to the guests from Turin, but with good pressing and high ball wins, the Milanese were still dangerous.

A loss of the ball by Rodrigo Bentancur, who had tried a heel pass in his own penalty area, was used by Samu Castillejo for the first dangerous finish.

Wojciech

Szczesny parried the low shot with a good reflex (7th).

Then Juventus put pressure on: Chiesa hit the post (16th), before the right winger shot a heeled pass from Paulo Dybala into the far corner (19th).

After falling behind, Milan tried to finish quickly.

The best opportunity arose from a counterattack: against unsorted Turin, Rafael Leao, who dodged on the wing, put the ball in the middle, Davide Calabria pulled from the edge of the penalty area and hit the top right corner of the goal (41.).

McKennie makes the decision

In the second half, Milan started again committed, but Juventus had better chances and used them consistently.

After a short dribble, Chiesa pushed in from 16 meters from the goal with a placed shot at the bottom left (61st), while substitute ex-Schalke Weston McKennie pushed the ball from close range to make the final decision over the line (76th).

With the defeat in Milan, the longest undefeated streak in Europe's top leagues is over: The Rossoneri had not lost 27 games in a row across the seasons and were the last undefeated team in a top league this season.

Most recently, Stefano Pioli's team lost 2-1 to Genoa FC in March.

The other results of the 16th matchday also caused more tension in the Italian title race: City rivals Inter lost just like Milan and are still second one point behind after a 1: 2 against Sampdoria Genoa, AS Roma moved up with a 3-1 away win at FC Crotone up to four points at the top.

Juventus follow seven points behind Milan in fourth place, but can move up to four points with a win in the catch-up game against SSC Napoli.

The game could not be played because the Neapolitans were in corona quarantine.

Originally, the game was therefore considered a victory for Juventus, but an objection by SSC Napoli was successful.

It is not yet clear when the catch-up game will take place.
