LE SCAN SPORT - The Lyon club will produce the equivalent of the consumption of 2,500 households by installing 50,000 m2 of solar panels in its activity complex around the stadium, OL Valley

A pioneer in the diversification of the activities of a football club, Jean-Michel Aulas will innovate further in this field.

The president of OL has launched a project to produce part of the electricity necessary for his needs by deploying 50,000 m2 of solar panels in OL Vallée, the complex of sports facilities being born around his Stadium.

This solar park will cover a total area comparable to seven football fields.

Production will reach 10 megwatts, equivalent to the annual consumption of 2,500 households.

Carbon-free, the energy will cover part of the needs of Groupama Stadium and the future Arena where ASVEL will operate and will save 164 tonnes of CO² per year.

The future ASVEL Arena equipped with solar panels

Associated with Engie and Reservoir Sun, a player in solar self-consumption, the Lyon club will cover car parks at Groupama Stadium with solar shades, which will improve visitor comfort.

Voltaic panels will also be installed on the roof of the mixed training center for professional teams.

A solar roof will also see the light of day on the future high level tennis training and training center "All In Academy" of Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Thierry Ascione.

Finally, the future Arena, a multifunctional room dedicated to the organization of sporting and cultural events, which will house the Euroleague basketball matches of ASVEL, a club chaired by Tony Parker, will also be equipped with solar panels.

A duty to set an example according to Jean-Michel Aulas

The future training center will also be equipped with panels to produce electricity.

“From the construction of the stadium, we wanted to focus on clean and sustainable energies.

These photovoltaic projects meet the challenges of today while preparing those of tomorrow.

This broad partnership with key players in the energy field is directly linked to our duty to set an example in renewable energies and sustainable development, ”commented Jean-Michel Aulas in a press release.
