"Like a pro": Danny Abdia and the sign that fell on his head in the middle of a trip (@washwizardsil)

After Luka Doncic finished his first baptism of fire in the playoffs, Dallas coach Rick Carlisle said he expected him to return from the break with a new weapon, another move at Arsenal, to take another step forward - just like the legendary NBA players used to do every summer.

So Doncic may have returned for the season opener in the NBA with a few extra pounds, but his development is evident in every game, and especially in tonight’s (Thursday-Friday) 117-124 victory over Denver after overtime.

Doncic showcased the new move - a shot on one leg while falling in the Dirk Nowitzki style - and showed encouraging signs in Money Time.

He finished the great evening with 38 points, 13 assists, 9 rebounds (and 8 turnovers), and with a thick hint that he intends to be not only one of the players who will dominate the NBA, but also one of those who will be famous for their clutch abilities.

Doncic had no less than 12 points in overtime, including a basket with a Nowitzki shot from half-distance that closed out an interest.

"Like I said all the time for the last two years, we learn from everything we've been through. Especially me. I have to lead the team in moments like this, when the game is close and reaching the final minutes," said Doncic, who knows last season the Mavericks were ranked only 26th in points in Mani. Time.

Doncic's actions in Money Time tonight illustrated how much he learned.

During the last of the Mavericks in legal time Denver sent him a double save, and he found Maxi Caliber a three-pointer that gave Dallas an advantage with 3.3 seconds left.

Nikola Jokic still had time to send the game into overtime, but the message was conveyed: After leading the NBA last season with shots from the field in the final 30 seconds of close games, Doncic released the ball from his hands and recorded the first assist of his career in that situation.

"We all trust every single one of the players around us. I think Maxi scored a great shot. Even if he missed, it was a big shot. I will continue to deliver in situations like this, I would do it over and over again," Doncic said.

Mabs coach Rick Carlisle said "Luca is very calculated in money time, and people sometimes forget how young he is. He's a whole player at a young age, but what's scary is that he has a lot of room for improvement. "Right. It's not easy to get to the last minutes of a close game. But when you have a player like Luka Doncic on the team - you know the opponent is in danger."
