The ESC Planegg is eaten: With Theresa Wagner, the next player moves to Bundesliga competitor Ingolstadt.

Almost half of the ERC squad has a history in Würmtal.

Planegg

- Theresa Wagner was the most successful scorer in the women's ice hockey Bundesliga last weekend.

The national player scored four goals and prepared four more.

Not for the ESC Planegg, for which she had played for years until recently, but for the ERC Ingolstadt, which she joined in mid-December.

In the two games against the Kölner Haie, Wagner made her debut in the panther jersey, while her former team handled the Mad Dogs from Mannheim without her.

Why Wagner left the penguins in the middle of the season and didn't wait until the end of the round is not clear.

The sports soldier does not want to comment.

At the ESC, too, people are silent about the reasons that led to Wagner's departure.

The attacker did not score points with her old club with her decision.

"It is a big disappointment," says Klaus Wüst.

The President of Planegg cannot understand the decision of the 25-year-old.

"You bet on the people."

ESC President Klaus Wüst acidified: "That is the thank you from her"

Wagner played for the German record champions for eleven years.

During this time, she won the title six times, was runner-up four times and won the German Ice Hockey Federation (DEB) cup three times.

She is now wearing the national team jersey again.

"We brought her forward," says Wüst, before commenting sourly: "That's her thank you."

As always, when a relationship breaks, there is no shortage of shards.

The farewell of the Waldkraiburger, who collected 169 points in 186 games for the ESC Planegg, announced the penguins on their Facebook page.

It is noticeable that none of her former teammates clicked the symbol with the raised thumb for "Like".

There is also no name of a former colleague under the emoji with the tear on his face.

Only goalkeeper Lena Schuster clicked a laughing smiley face.

"We have two teams, the ESC Planegg and the ERC Ingolstadt"

It is perfectly legitimate for Wagner to go to the main competitor for the championship in the middle of the season, because it happened within the official transition period.

"We cannot refuse the release," explains ESC President Wüst.

He once advocated writing the rules like that.

He now knows the danger the seven Bundesliga clubs were putting themselves in.

"If the girls are stinky, they wait until December and then go to another club," said Wüst.

The clubs have no means of averting the worst case scenario.

Wagner is the tenth player in the current Ingolstadt squad who was already on the ice for Planegg before moving on to the ERC.

"We have two teams," says Wüst: "The ESC and Ingolstadt." However, the president also says what Wagner's move still means for his team: "That motivates the team all the more."

ESC Planegg in a double duel with arch rivals ECDC Memmingen at the weekend

The hospital of the ESC Planegg is filling up.

Celine Mayer, who was brutally checked into the gang a week ago in the Bundesliga game against the Mannheim Mad Dogs by Jennifer Miller, is due to fall for the next two league games against ECDC Memmingen on Saturday (5 p.m.) and Sunday (12:15 p.m.) a concussion.

"She has not yet recovered," explains Michael Lehmann.

The sports director of the Würmtaler ice hockey ladies thinks Mayer should be careful.

It is no different with Julia Zorn, who also continues to fail with a concussion that she suffered at the end of 2020.

At least there is hope with Yvonne Rothemund that she will soon be able to intervene again after her shoulder injury.

Penguins versus Indians: Signs different than in the first half of the season

Especially against the Indians from Memmingen, Planegg's coach Marcel Breil would have liked his experienced players in the team.

When the Bavarian rivals met for the first time this season last October, the Penguins surprisingly prevailed 4-0 and 5-0.

“That was a completely different situation,” says Lehmann.

His team was able to complete a perfect preparation, the Allgäu women had to interrupt their training again and again due to Corona.

In the meantime, the ECDC has overtaken the Würmtaler in the table and is second with two points ahead of Planegg.

However, the ESC completed three encounters less than the arch-rival.

Lehmann anticipates a tricky task: "It will be difficult to build on the performance from the beginning of the season."
