A great achievement for Israeli judo on Qatar soil.
Baruch Shmailov, who competes in the weight category up to 66 kg, won a silver medal tonight (Monday) after losing a gold score in the final against Korean Baul Ann. Shmailov, who is responsible for the first medal of the Israeli delegation, also secured a ticket to the Tokyo Olympics.

The chairman of the Judo Association, Moshe Ponti, who was chosen to participate in the official award ceremony and presented the awards to the winners on Qatar soil, was thrilled: "We are happy to represent our country in Qatar and for me as an Israeli it was exciting to attend the award ceremony.
"In terms of judo, it is an excellent achievement to win one of the most important tournaments in the world. I am very happy for him that he showed his abilities at the highest level in the world. Timna also presented excellent judo and was very close to the podium. A successful start to an Olympic year."
The coach of the men's team, Oren Samadja, added: "A long and difficult day of battles with victories over the world top against medalists with world and European championships.
