Negotiations opened on Tuesday between player representatives and the presidents of French professional clubs to find common ground on a possible future wage cut.
A round table which takes place at a time when the clubs are going through a difficult period linked to the coronavirus crisis with the absence of revenue linked to ticketing in closed stadiums but also the bankruptcy of Mediapro.
"We deserve our salary every day and we haven't been asked for anything yet, so I can't have an opinion on the subject"
Asked about the outcome of these negotiations, Keylor Navas, the Paris SG goalkeeper recalled that last spring, the Parisian players had made an effort on their salary sheets.
But he hasn't been asked lately.
The situation, according to him, is not quite the same since there is no question this time of suspending the competitions: "We are well aware of the situation linked to the pandemic, we had already had a wage reduction during confinement.
By then, the competitions had stopped and it was necessary.
We don't know what will happen and the competition is still ongoing.
We deserve our salary every day and we haven't been asked for anything yet, so I can't have an opinion on the subject. "
Tense negotiations at the start of 2020
Last June,
Le Parisien
said that no agreement had been found between the management of the club, which had requested an effort and the players.
Qatari leaders wanted a commitment on the basis of a 30% reduction.
The champions of France did not seem opposed to engaging in this direction, on one condition: that the money be donated to club employees and to hospitals in Paris.
But no agreement could be reached.
Edinson Cavani had even been commissioned to negotiate with the workforce.
Without success.
The capital club tried to involve the players' union (UNFP) without success either.
A failure of the negotiations which had pushed Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, the president, to raise the tone, on
