The race for the presidency of Barcelona has been reduced to just four candidates with Juan Laporta leading the list and currently winning more votes than the other three candidates.
Yesterday (Monday) was the deadline to collect 2257 in order to be in the final candidacy and Aporta who was president of the Catalans between 2003 and 2010 received support from 10,257 people.
Victor Font was second on the list submitting 4710 signed forms recommending him for the position and is expected to be the closest contender to Laporta.
Former Board members Tony Price and former Vice President Emily Russo are also among the candidates to be elected on 24.1.
Laporta is best remembered for Pep Guardiola's successful appointment in the summer of 2008, an appointment that led to a change in the club's face and historic turmoil already in its first season on the lines. Also, during Laporta's tenure in the job, Lionel Messi was promoted to the senior team when, for now, Flea's future will be one of the main points on which voters who want to see the club's biggest star sign a new contract will be based.
