Five Breton players were declared positive after tests carried out on Monday. Lorient must receive Dijon in the league this Sunday.

Minus seven ... The professional group of Lorient is now cut by seven players because of Covid-19.

To the two positive cases identified at the end of last week (Pierre-Yves Hamel and Julien Laporte) have been added seven new cases (including five players) after tests carried out on Monday.

According to Ouest-France, Vincent Le Goff, Jonathan Delaplace, Paul Nardi, Thomas Monconduit and Thomas Callens (fourth goalkeeper) are concerned.

“Due to the more active circulation of the virus in FCL, we have taken additional health protection measures with immediate effect,” explains the Breton club on its website.

New tests will be carried out before the match against Dijon, scheduled for Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Moustoir stadium.

A hard blow for the Merlus, who are preparing to play two very important games for their survival in the top flight.

Nineteenth in the Ligue 1 standings with only twelve points, Christophe Pélissier's men must follow the reception of Dijon (18th with 14 points) and a trip to Nîmes (red lantern with 12 points).

If the Lorient cluster were to expand further, the health protocol of the Professional Football League explains that a "club which would not have at least twenty players including a goalkeeper who is part of the official list of thirty players declared by the club […] on the morning of the match may ask the competitions commission to postpone the match.
