The English football club Manchester United has crowned its chase of the past few weeks with the leap to the top of the Premier League.
The 1-0 (0-0) at Burnley FC was the ninth of eleven games that the record champions won.
The decisive goal for the Red Devils was scored by Paul Pogba (71st minute).
He was lucky that his direct acceptance from the back area was significantly deflected.
In the first half, a Harry Maguire header was denied for foul play.
The last time United led the league at such a late point in time was in 2012/2013, when Sir Alex Ferguson won the title in his final season as coach.
Also in the current season it was not foreseeable for a long time that United could play for the championship: After seven game days, coach Ole Gunnar Solskjær's team was in 15th place.
United's sudden rise was also possible because the top teams were weakening.
Arch-rivals Liverpool only got two points from the last three games.
Next Sunday (January 17th) the two teams will meet in a top game.
Likewise a week later, on January 23rd, in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
