The International Handball Federation announced the withdrawal of the United States national team from the 27th edition of the Handball World Cup hosted by Egypt between January 13 and 31.
According to the statement issued by the federation, the withdrawal of the American team from the World Cup comes after the emergence of several cases of Corona virus among the team's players, which reached 18 cases.
The statement pointed out that according to the arrangement of the European Nations Cup, Switzerland was called up to participate in the place of the American team.
The statement indicated that the International Handball Federation decided to put 5 teams as alternatives in the event that any team participating in the tournament apologized, namely Switzerland, the Netherlands, Montenegro, Ukraine and Serbia.
Thus, the American team is the second team to apologize for participating in the World Cup after the Czechs, who apologized yesterday for the same reason.
